What is the "secret place?"

The secret place is "God's presence" (Psalm 31:20), the "womb of the morning" (Psalm 110:3), the "shut door" (Matt 6:6), the "garden" (Matt 26:36), the "mountain" (Luke 6:12), the "wilderness" (Matt 4:1) a "solitary place" (Mark 1:35), an "accustomed" place (Luke 22:39), a place of "hidden riches" (Isaiah 45:3)

Today I read Romans 8:20-25 and became stuck on the idea from verse 20 that, "the creation was made subject to vanity/futility, not willingly," and began an investigation through the original Greek words of this passage.  I discovered that it is for our own benefit and for the glorification of the Father that He has sovereignly allowed mankind to become prisoners to sin.  In doing this, I caught a wave of the Spirit and wrote an personal interpretation of the entire section of Romans 8:20-25.  I encourage you to first read how it is written in Scripture, then read my version.

The Hope of Freedom and the Freedom of Hope

Through God's sovereignty and perfect will, man chose sin and separation and we became prisoners to our own selfish, futile efforts in life (idols, jobs, addictions, aspirations, loves, gods).  Yet through the same will of God, we are given hope of freedom from this bondage, the freedom which is given to us by being a child of God.  We have witnessed the groaning for freedom from the pain of life as it endures; but we who have tasted of the firstfruits of the Spirit (that is, our renewed, born-again life and salvation through the death of our Lord Jesus Christ), shall persevere in hope to taste something even greater that we haven't yet seen: The redemption of our bodies upon death and the everlasting life with the Trinity to come.
